Midtown Manhattan

I have been fascinated by the towers of midtown Manhattan for over 30 years. The sight of the city coming into view from the Long Island Railroad or flying into JFK is simply breathtaking. I have many thoughts on why this is the greatest skyline but I'll boil it down to 4:
1. Sheer number of towers. The vastness of the skyline is incomparable in the world. Others like Chicago or Hong Kong may have taller towers, but nobody else has the overwhelming volume.
2. The Empire State Building stands apart from the main body of the skyline, retaining its prominent, commanding position. Aside from the US Capitol, White House, and Pentagon, it is the most significant symbol of American might.
3. The Chrysler Building is simply the most elegant and beautiful skyscraper ever constructed.
4. It is as impressive from the street as it is from across the Hudson, and midtown contains the most significant cultural, entertainment, shopping, and culinary concentration in North America.
(Steve's reply): Thanks Craig for submitting your thoughts about the New York City skyline. I would love to visit the Big Apple someday. I'm sure that I would use up many rolls of film (or fill up lots of memory cards!) while photographing that great skyline.
