Lake Gregory enjoys a beautiful setting in the San Bernardino mountains.
Hillside homes look out on the north end of the lake.
Another view of steep hillside homes on the north end of the lake. Access to the water is easy on this end of the lake (Lake Drive road is only a few feet away from where I took this photograph). There are many recreational activities one can pursue at Lake Gregory. For those who just like to unwind and relax, there are picnic areas shaded by tall pine trees. Sandy beaches exist on both northern and southern shorelines and are the perfect place for swimmers and sunbathers. Boats are available for rent including sailboats, paddleboats, rowboats, and water cycles. And there are two giant 300 foot water slides at the south end of the lake which are very popular with the younger crowd.
Looking toward the west end of Lake Gregory.
View of a swimming beach on the west end of the lake. A lifeguard
Looking at a small sailboat from a forested hill on the west side. There is a hiking trail which completely encircles Lake Gregory. You can fish for trout, catfish, and bass from the lake's shoreline at any time of year. The lake sits in the middle of Lake Gregory Regional Park. After exploring the lake and its surroundings, you can dine at one of several Crestline restaurants (including my personal favorite: Round Table Pizza).
More homes look out on the lake on the west side.
The forest grows right to the water's edge on the northeast end of the lake.
A sailboat moves slowly along the eastern shore of the lake. Because of the easy access, photographers can take a wide variety of good landscape photos here. You can also get some good beach pictures here even though you are many miles removed from the ocean. During the summer months, there is a lifeguard present for swimmers making it the perfect place for a family beach party. The winter months are much colder of course, but the area can frequently turn into a winter wonderland due to the high mountain elevation and the surrounding pine forests. The snowfall is not as heavy as that received at Big Bear (which is much higher up). It is just enough to give it that winter feel. Overall, it is a terrific place to visit.
There are sandy beaches on the east and west sides of the lake.
This mountain lake is a great place to hold a family gathering at. The large number of activities available guarantee that no one will get bored! Tall pine trees frame this view of the lake.
It was a warm summer afternoon when I took pictures of the lake |
