View of a lakeshore restaurant which almost has a swiss chalet look to it. Boating and water skiing are the two most popular activities at Lake Arrowhead, California. Water ski races are held frequently and can be viewed from Lake Arrowhead Village. The Village is made up of several factory outlet stores and small boutiques along with restaurants and a supermarket. There is also a small carnival-like amusement area for kids at Lake Arrowhead Village. During the summer months, free music concerts are held at the Village. Visitors to the lake can also enjoy the Lake Arrowhead Queen Paddleboat cruise. This guided boat tour around the perimeter of the lake is approximately one hour long and lets you see areas of the lake not normally visible to the public. The lake is located at the 5100 foot elevation level and has 14 miles of shoreline. It has an average depth of 100 feet (which is deeper than Big Bear Lake) and actually reaches a depth of 185 feet in one location. That is a lot of water for a Southern California lake.

Several ducks swim near the shore of the lake. There is a wide walkway behind the village shops where people can stroll and feed the ducks. Lake Arrowhead, California has several hotels where one can stay and also offers lots of cabin rentals for those who would prefer more rugged surroundings. The scenic mountain setting is one of the nicest you'll find among the many California lakes to be seen. There are several locations around Lake Arrowhead Village where photographers can get some good and unique scenery landscape pictures. Even the local McDonald's restaurant has an eating area with a spectacular view of the lake. It is a wonderful place to visit.

The scenery looks different during the winter months. However, there are When I was 12 years old, my family rented a cabin for a week at Lake Arrowhead, California. I remember exploring the forest near the cabin and thinking we were all alone in the wilderness. Of course, we were not far from civilization at all but it seemed that way to a kid like me. During that week we also explored the area around Big Bear Lake which is not too far away. At night, we would go into Lake Arrowhead Village and spend some time at the amusement area. I have very good memories of our time at Lake Arrowhead. It is a shining jewel in the San Bernardino mountains.
