There are a number of Hawaii beaches which offer excellent swimming or snorkeling opportunities, but Ke'e Beach goes one step further. It does have a beautiful lagoon which offers calm clear waters for the activities listed above. But it also is where the rugged and spectacular Na Pali coastline begins. Ke'e is a starting point for those who wish to hike the Kalalau Trail and see more of this coastline up close. There are no roads around this end of the island. The only other way to see this awesome scenery is by boat or air.
Ke'e Beach is a great place for a relaxing swim or to snorkel.
This area of Ke'e Beach is a short distance from the Picture opportunities exist everywhere at Ke'e Beach and it is a great location for capturing gorgeous sunset pictures since it faces west. The beach is located at the end of Highway 560 on the north shore of Kauai. This northern stretch of highway includes some of the world's most beautiful beaches such as
Tunnels Beach
, secluded
Lumahai Beach
, and the shores of
Hanalei Bay
.
A view of Ke'e Beach in the late afternoon. The Na Pali
West facing Ke'e Beach is one of the best Hawaii beaches While snorkeling here one day in 1999, I encountered several large green sea turtles feeding on the coral in the Ke'e lagoon. Large schools of tropical Hawaiian fish can also be viewed and enjoyed during an underwater excursion. Scuba diving in Hawaii is a very popular activity and Ke'e is a favorite diving location for divers (as is Tunnels Beach).
Majestic tropical mountains provide a pleasant backdrop for Ke'e Beach.
Interesting trees growing along the shore of Ke'e Beach. Kauai is home to many spectacular
Hawaii beaches
, some of which are found on the east, west and south sides of the island. However, the north shore area offers extra special scenic beauty and best captures the feel of this tropical paradise.
Less than half a mile from Ke'e Beach is Lumahuli stream.
