There are many ways to experience the islands and to begin your own Hawaii adventure. But I cannot think of anything more exciting or awe-inspiring than taking a helicopter flight over the island. For the photographer, it is a perfect way to capture some memorable photographs from a unique (and high) perspective.

Although this photograph is a little bit overexposed (from looking towards the sun), it gives you a good birds-eye view of the winding road to Hana. Many companies offer a Maui helicopter tour ranging from short 20 or 30 minute flights to detailed tours of 2 hours or more. While these flights are not cheap, they are definitely worth the monetary investment. There are lots of waterfalls and other scenic sites on Maui which can only be viewed from the air. And if you enjoy taking pictures of Hawaii, you will be thrilled with the abundance of photo opportunities that present themselves to you as you fly over this tropical paradise.
Some waterfalls would be virtually impossible
Dozens of remote waterfalls can be seen during a Maui helicopter tour. Some tour companies will even land the helicopter in a remote island location and let you explore the area for awhile or even take a swim at the base of a beautiful secluded Hawaii waterfall. Now that kind of

is exactly what the doctor ordered! There truly is nothing like a Hawaii helicopter tour.
