View of two modern skyscrapers in downtown Sacramento. Even the The city of Sacramento was a major distribution center during the California gold rush days of the mid 1800's. A number of historic buildings from that period have been preserved in Old Sacramento near the downtown area. The beautiful and wide Sacramento River runs right alongside Old Sacramento. Many people also visit the city to see the State Capitol Building. Both of these attractions help to boost the Sacramento tourism industry.

Interstate 80 runs through the city of Sacramento as does Interstate 5. The I-80 freeway heads west to San Francisco and east to Reno, Nevada. The I-5 freeway is the main north/south route through the state of California. There are two scenic California lakes within range of Sacramento residents. Lake Shasta to the north and Lake Tahoe to the east. You can capture some beautiful scenery pictures at either of these photogenic locations.

Lake Tahoe is a scenic gem located on the eastern border Sacramento tourism will continue to grow as the city continues to expand. New skyscrapers have gone up in the city since the photos on this page were taken. It is definitely worth it to spend some time in this part of the state.
